ASME at UMD offers hands-on projects that help students develop practical engineering skills while contributing to the community. Our projects include competition teams, upgrades for the ASME lounge, and hands-on builds that enhance technical expertise. Members collaborate on designing, prototyping, and problem-solving, gaining experience in real-world applications. Whether you’re looking to compete, improve campus spaces, or refine your engineering skills, ASME projects provide the perfect opportunity to get involved and make an impact.

The Alumni Cup at UMD is an annual engineering design competition where different engineering departments compete in a themed challenge. Teams must apply creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills to build a functional project within the given constraints. The event fosters collaboration, school spirit, and hands-on learning while showcasing the strengths of each discipline. It’s a fun and competitive tradition that brings together students, faculty, and alumni to celebrate innovation and engineering excellence.

TV stand
We’re building a TV stand and mobile entertainment station to enhance the ASME lounge, making it a more functional and enjoyable space for members. This project will provide a dedicated setup for presentations, meetings, and downtime, improving the overall lounge experience.
Engineering Workshop
ASME is creating a dedicated engineering workshop within the lounge to support hands-on student projects. This space will be equipped for circuit building, hand tool work, and other small-scale engineering tasks, giving members a place to experiment, create, and develop their skills.
